Shannon Bardole-Foley has a degree in Family Services from the University of Northern Iowa and has worked for United Way of Story County for over nine years, spending the last three years in United Way’s role of Community Impact Director. Shannon actively works with partner agencies on data tracking and with Hunger, Transportation, and Food Pantry Collaborations. One of her favorite parts of her job is the Wheels for Work program that accepts donated vehicles and places the safety-inspected vehicles with families in need of transportation to work.

"Responsibilities Story County Emergency Management is a coordinated effort involving local, state, and federal government agencies as well as volunteer organization and businesses.

With an integrated emergency management framework, these various entities assist citizens and their communities to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and eliminate or reduce the effects of natural and man-made emergencies and disasters. 

Services:   Story County Emergency Management shall assist public officials, emergency responders, schools, hospitals, industry and the public to promote emergency preparedness, assist with the coordination of disaster response and recovery operations and will encourage mitigation efforts in all jurisdictions to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents of Story County, before, during, and after a disaster or large scale emergency."

Lorrie Hanson has been with the City of Ames since 1992, starting out at the animal shelter and spending the last 21 years at Resource Recovery.  She and her husband Eric live north of Nevada, and have two boys, Arthur and Sam.  She's the Garbage Goddess of Story County and she loves to talk trash!

Associate Dean, Academic and Global Programs Raymond and Mary Baker Chair in Global Agriculture Professor, Agricultural Education College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Iowa State University​

CSRL's activities center on small landholder farmers to achieve food security, improve household nutrition, and stabilize income through sustainable crop production and access to marketing opportunities. We also provide support for malnourished children, widows, and families living with HIV/AIDS.   ​

Gabriel Glynn is the CEO of MākuSafe™ and a serial entrepreneur. Gabriel’s startup journey began over a decade ago and in that time he has experienced several successful exits, his most recent being the selling of his software company, Slash/Web Studios, in 2015.

 

Gabriel was named 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year at the Iowa Small Business Awards, in 2016 he was awarded Alumni of the Year by Des Moines Area Community College, and was a finalist for the YPC Young Professional of the Year in 2013. He has served on many community and nonprofit boards including the Ankeny Young Professionals and was a Charter Member of the Greater Des Moines Rotary Club.

 

Gabriel is the creator and host of the Advanced Manufacturing Podcast (AMP) on iTunes and has interviewed dozens of manufacturing leaders around the globe, including Jeff Immelt, formerly of GE Corporation.  

 

Gabriel and his wife of 11 years, Amanda, live in Ankeny with their two boys, Caleb and Tucker. Gabriel has a degree in Business Administration from Des Moines Area Community College.

Adam Schweers owner of Computer Concepts of Iowa and Midwest Data Management was born and raised in Carroll Iowa.  He and his wife Jill have two boys Bennett 13 and Camron 10.  He currently serves as President of the US Hwy 30 Coalition and has been an active member of the Carroll Rotary since 2006 serving as president in 2009.  Adam served as a City Council Member for 2 years from 2010 thru 2011 and then as Carroll’s Mayor from 2012 thru 2015 having received the Iowa League of Cities Rhonda Wood Smith Outstanding Young City Official Award in 2013.  He served on the Iowa League of Cities Executive Board, served on the board of New Hope for 6 years and as their President in 2014.  He served on the Carroll Young Professional Board and Young Professionals of Iowa State Board for 8 years and as their President in 2012.  He has served 4 years on a Governor appointed Licensure Board and has worked with a number of state and local house, senate and presidential campaigns.  Adam has a passion for community development, serves on Carroll Area Economic Development and owns AS Properties which has been focused on the purchase and rehab of commercial and apartment real estate.  His favorite quote is “I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. Kyle Horn is committed to helping all people achieve their potential in the workforce — including those in disadvantaged circumstances.

After several years in the staffing and recruiting industry, he stepped away from his corporate career to launch America’s Job Honor Awards:  A nonprofit organization celebrating people who overcome barriers to employment, and the employers who hire them (www.JobHonor.org).  His mission is to rekindle hope and energize the work ethic across the nation, through the celebration of a new kind of hero.
