ISU Rotaract Steps Up in the Fight Against Human Trafficking
On January 29th, the ISU Rotaract Club held a special dinner meeting attended by 15 dedicated members to focus on a critical issue: the fight against human trafficking. The evening was marked by both a prestigious recognition and a bold new call to action.

A Governor's Proclamation
The meeting featured George Belitsos, who attended to provide insights on Iowa's ongoing efforts to combat trafficking. In the featured photo, Belitsos is seen alongside the Rotaract President, Arop Ojeke, Vice President, Lily Ferguson, and Past President, Gage Haines. They are holding an official proclamation signed by Governor Kim Reynolds that declares January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month in Iowa. George presented this document as a "thank you" for the club's consistent and impactful work in this field.

New Project: Rescuing in Ames
The club didn't just look back at past successes; they surprised Belitsos by announcing a new initiative launching this February.

  • The Mission: Members plan to visit bars throughout Ames.
  • The Action: They will be placing "rescue stickers" inside bathroom stalls.
  • The Goal: To provide a discreet and immediate lifeline for individuals who may be victims of trafficking.
