Through a partnership between the City of Ames, ISU Office of Sustainability, and KHOI Community Radio, the seventh “Earth Day on the Airwaves” event will be broadcast from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 18

The event will feature live call-ins and updates on various topics, including the annual Stream Clean-up, Stash the Trash, the new Resource Recovery and Recycling Center, and the residential curbside recycling program. Iowa State University's sustainability initiatives will be highlighted, along with interviews with City of Ames departments and with students, faculty, and staff at Iowa State University.

Listeners should tune into KHOI-FM Community Radio at 89.1 or stream online at www.KHOIFM.org to learn about sustainability efforts throughout the community. The "Earth Day on the Airwaves" radio special will include co-hosts from the City of Ames and the Office of Sustainability, along with KHOI Community Radio volunteers.

"I look forward to Earth Day and Earth Month every April as an opportunity to reevaluate my personal efforts in supporting community sustainability goals," said ISU Director of Sustainability Merry Rankin. "But I also look forward to learning about community-wide initiatives to conserve our natural resources, reduce waste streams, and engage in my community whenever I can."
