Shannon Bardole-Foley has a degree in Family Services from the University of Northern Iowa and has worked for United Way of Story County for over nine years, spending the last three years in United Way’s role of Community Impact Director. Shannon actively works with partner agencies on data tracking and with Hunger, Transportation, and Food Pantry Collaborations. One of her favorite parts of her job is the Wheels for Work program that accepts donated vehicles and places the safety-inspected vehicles with families in need of transportation to work.

"Responsibilities Story County Emergency Management is a coordinated effort involving local, state, and federal government agencies as well as volunteer organization and businesses.

With an integrated emergency management framework, these various entities assist citizens and their communities to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and eliminate or reduce the effects of natural and man-made emergencies and disasters. 

Services:   Story County Emergency Management shall assist public officials, emergency responders, schools, hospitals, industry and the public to promote emergency preparedness, assist with the coordination of disaster response and recovery operations and will encourage mitigation efforts in all jurisdictions to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents of Story County, before, during, and after a disaster or large scale emergency."

Lorrie Hanson has been with the City of Ames since 1992, starting out at the animal shelter and spending the last 21 years at Resource Recovery.  She and her husband Eric live north of Nevada, and have two boys, Arthur and Sam.  She's the Garbage Goddess of Story County and she loves to talk trash!

CSRL's activities center on small landholder farmers to achieve food security, improve household nutrition, and stabilize income through sustainable crop production and access to marketing opportunities. We also provide support for malnourished children, widows, and families living with HIV/AIDS.   ​

Gabriel Glynn is the CEO of MākuSafe™ and a serial entrepreneur. Gabriel’s startup journey began over a decade ago and in that time he has experienced several successful exits, his most recent being the selling of his software company, Slash/Web Studios, in 2015.


Gabriel was named 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year at the Iowa Small Business Awards, in 2016 he was awarded Alumni of the Year by Des Moines Area Community College, and was a finalist for the YPC Young Professional of the Year in 2013. He has served on many community and nonprofit boards including the Ankeny Young Professionals and was a Charter Member of the Greater Des Moines Rotary Club.


Gabriel is the creator and host of the Advanced Manufacturing Podcast (AMP) on iTunes and has interviewed dozens of manufacturing leaders around the globe, including Jeff Immelt, formerly of GE Corporation.  


Gabriel and his wife of 11 years, Amanda, live in Ankeny with their two boys, Caleb and Tucker. Gabriel has a degree in Business Administration from Des Moines Area Community College.
